DIY Valentine’s Day Gifts
It’s February and you know what that means, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Although this holiday is synonymous with love, it can sometimes be anything but. People put so much pressure on themselves when it comes to planning this special day or buying the perfect gift. Sometimes it’s downright stressful.
Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be complicated. In fact, it should be fun and enjoyable. That's why we came up with five cost effective, DIY gift ideas you’ll actually enjoy making. Read on to learn more.
1. Jar of Love
Here’s a cute and creative idea that's great for those who are a bit sentimental. Heck, it’s even great for those who aren’t. It’s also very affordable and super easy to make. Write on pieces of paper a variety of reasons why you love your partner. Find a clear mason jar and fill it with those pieces of paper. You can decorate the outside of the jar with hearts, ribbons, or other embellishments. It’s great for a wall mount decoration. Your honey can open the jar at any time, and read something that will affirm how much you care for him or her. Who’s It For: The Sentimentalist
2. Valentine’s Notebooks
All you'll need for this gift is scrap paper, material for your book cover, a hole-punch, and some string (like a sturdy thread). Begin by cutting a stack of paper down to 3 inches by 3 inches. Mark where your holes will go and punch holes in the pages. Affix your cover. Bind with your string, and viola, you’re done! Your special someone can use this notebook to write notes, draw pictures, or create a lovely scrapbook of their own. Who’s It For: The Writer or Artist
3. The Heart Beaded Beanie
This idea is super cute for a group of female friends. Here’s what you’ll need: A beanie cap, a heart stencil or chalk, Tulip® Beads in a Bottle® paint, and crystals for bling- if you’re feeling fancy. Lay out your beanie. Draw a heart shape anywhere you want. Fill in your heart with different beads. Make sure your drops aren’t too close together so the bead paint doesn’t bleed in together. Add the crystals before the paint dries. Beanies are absolutely perfect for the cold winter months. Your friends will love you for this. Trust us. Who’s It For: The Fashionista
4. Love Rocks
If you have an abundance of rocks just laying around and have a garden-obsessed lover, then this DIY is for you. For this earth-inspired gift, all you will need are rocks of different sizes, a variety of markers, and Mod Podge®. Wash and dry your rocks. Use your markers and draw hearts on the rocks. Really get creative with your use of color and design. Seal with a coat of Mod Podge and you’re done. Let your loved one go crazy with these in the garden, or scatter these rocks around the neighborhood for unsuspecting people to find. Who’s It For: The Garden Lover
5. Sharpie Mugs
There’s nothing better than a personalized mug of your own, especially when they’re so easy to make. Use any plain mugs you have laying around or purchase some new ones. Use an oil-based Sharpie. Regular Sharpie ink will come off in baking. Use any colors you wish to decorate your mug. Write sweet nothings on the mug. Let your mug sit out to dry. Finally, bake your mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Leave it in the oven until the mug cools completely. Hand wash the mug. Who’s It For: The Coffee Enthusiast
